Welcome
Located in the cultural heart of Massachusetts, with Tanglewood and Shakespeare & Company a stone's throw away, Lenox Memorial Middle and High School opened its doors in 1966. Today, we educate approximately 450 students. From the moment they become a part of our community, students are encouraged to engage – in the classroom, on the athletic field, in an extra-curricular club, and out in the world at large. Engagement fosters a sense of belonging, which is the cornerstone of self-worth. The faculty and staff at LMMHS are committed to creating a school where students discover their best selves.
To aid students in this journey, Lenox offers an education that is both classical and cutting-edge. With such courses as Latin, Computer Science and Coding, Physics, Leadership, Humanities, and CAD, along with AP and Honors classes in Literature, Science, Math, History, Language, and Art, a Lenox graduate leaves fully prepared to meet the demands of college life and the work force. Among the special facilities available to students are a beautiful library with more than 20,000 books, films, and audio material, as well as extensive digital content covering all aspects of the curriculum for required research papers; a modern world language laboratory; a choral and instrument chamber; a state-of-the-art theatre; and a physical fitness and weight room.
Given our teacher/student ratio of 1/9, we are able to forge a connection with every single student. Connections begin with our first bell, and continue long into the afternoon and evening hours, where willing participants can take part in 11 Varsity sports teams and 32 after-school activities. Mock Trial, Improv, Theatre, Robotics, Investment, Evergreen, Film, and Math clubs are among the many offerings that encourage our students to discover new skills, new friends, and new worlds. The passion for learning is palpable at Lenox.
What are the tangible results of an education at LMMHS? Numbers tell a part of our story. Our performance has put us on the national map. U.S. World News and Reports deemed us a Silver Medal School. The Washington Post listed Lenox as one of America's Most Challenging Schools, and GoLocalWorcester ranked us as the 4th Top High School in Massachusetts in 2015.
But that's not the whole story. Ask a Lenox student what they like about school, and chances are you'll hear that their voice matters. When you add academic rigor and flexible intelligence to dreams and goals, the result is a child who believes anything is possible.
Even this does not tell the whole story. Please browse our website to learn more. Or, better yet, come and visit. Talk to our kids. We at LMMHS welcome you to see what the buzz is about.
